Oconee Preschool Academy was founded in 1995 by Flo E. Wilkes. From a very early age she loved and adored children, especially babies. Flo had a lifelong vision of child care ownership. In 1990 she began providing in-home group childcare. After years of maintaining wait list for her services, she planned, developed and financed the opening of her first school.

OPA 1 opened in 1995 and became the premier child care center in Oconee County. After maintaining full enrollment for years and developing an excellent reputation for affordable quality child care in the community, OPA 2 on Greensboro Hwy was opened in July 2007.

Since opening its doors in 1995, Oconee Preschool Academy has provided a nurturing, inclusive, learning environment for thousands of families. Our strong foundation and love of our community makes OPA an excellent choice for your family.

Oconee Preschool Academy, I

Built in 1995, OPA I sits on 2.5 acres, 9,200 square foot brick building with 9 divided age groups of classrooms. We have 2 GA Pre-K classrooms. Three large playgrounds are age-appropriate where safety is priority.

Security and safety of children is always Oconee Preschool’s highest priority objective at all times. OPA has a state-of-the-art security system where parents enter a secure code to enter the corridor. Children are only released to persons preauthorized by parents with photo ID required.

We have an in-ground swimming pool fenced separately from playgrounds with an automatic closing and locking gate. This means a safety child-proof latch. A certified lifeguard is always on duty along with teachers providing additional supervision. OPA I has a great “accident free record” since children have been swimming for 16 years! Safety is always our main priority in and around the pool. Children have a great time swimming 3 times a week cooling off from our Georgia heat and humidity!

OPA I had a complete interior remodel in 2007 where children are nurtured with love and affection……..they feel as though they never left home. The preschool is spacious with soothing colors and the latest child development equipment.

Oconee Preschool Academy, II

Newly built in 2007, OPA II sits on 3.25 acres, 12,000 square foot brick building and provides 10 divided age groups of classrooms. Classrooms have an air purification system preventing most air-borne illnesses and odors. Three large playgrounds are age appropriate where safety is priority.
